Homay and the Mastan group :Founded in 2005 by Parvaz Homay, The Mastan Group has become the prominent – traditional Persian music - ensemble from Iran. in his late twenties, Parvaz Homay is an exceptional classical artist who composes, sings and writes his own lyrics ( this style in which the singer works as both composer and writer is called chameh soraei ).
The ensemble consists of seven highly proficient Iranian musicians whose instrumental performance includes the four-stringed Tar, the reedy, flute-like Ney, the upright fiddle called Kamanche , the multistringed hammered Zither, Santoor and some traditional persian style beating instruments.
Rhythmic, uplifting and mesmerizing, The Mastan Group plays traditional Persian music in a way that has never been heard before. Following the paths of the greatest Sufi (The name of an old sect in ancient Persia) masters Rumi and Hafez, The Mastan Group encourage its audiences to live consciously. They also share the idea that we should all strive for creative lives by flourishing love and peace from within.
Open-minded thoughts of the ensemble presented in their lyrics – breaking most of the unnecessary strict and severe rules of the religion – caused widespread condemnations by religious groups and brought about the government of Iran to cancel their performances and certifications.
